Dear Magical Diary: Post Thirteen

 Dear Magical Diary,

Note: As part of my "Charm School" project with Cara Mia of Cutewitch772 this summer, I have decided to keep a daily and public magical diary.  In what we're calling the Charm School Syllabus (a list of suggested tasks for someone seeking a first degree initiation published in Silver RavenWolf's book To Stir a Magick Cauldron), one task is "Provide a magickal diary to your instructor that encompasses one full year of your magickal experiences." Now, this task doesn't explicitly state that this diary needs daily entries, but I have decided to write daily as best I can.

Yesterday was a day of teachings and gatherings. I taught a labyrinth class for a handful of friends yesterday morning at the healing garden at University Hospital in Cleveland. We walked the 11-circuit Chartres labyrinth there together, then had the class portion in which people shared their experience and insights followed by a more didactic part by me. In that part, I talked about labyrinth topics from ancient history to medieval pilgrimages to sacred geometry. I’ll be posting a podcast-y narration of my slides on my Patreon later this week.
I’ll keep the other participants’ experiences confidential, but here are some things that came up for me. We rang a bell to start. I was scattered and self conscious the path inward. When I reached the center, the quarter hour church bells across the street rang, which felt magical and holy. At the center, I did a new practice of visiting each of the six parts of the rose and acknowledged each medieval type of life (mineral, plant, animal, human, and so on.) I cried with gratitude at the animal portion, having had a wonderful weekend pet sitting some sweeties, and then cried in anticipation of meeting my new nephew in a few weeks at the human spot. I walked relatively quickly on the path out, passing other participants. I’ve always been taught and passed on that it’s fine labyrinth etiquette to pass others, but I’ve been too repressed to actually do it until yesterday. When the last participant exited the path, I rang the bell again and the joyous hour chimed at the church with me.
Solvitur ambulando— St. Augustine’s words rang in my grateful heretic heart. I began frazzled and ended in mystical joy. Lost and then found. In my head and then in my heart.
It is solved by walking.

Later, I attended an online orientation for the witchcamp I'll be joining in July, connecting with fellow campers in preparation for our shared magical journey.

Today, my mundane job takes a backseat, allowing me to focus on the sacred act of cleansing my condo. I purify my living space, infusing it with positive energy and clarity. A trip to the grocery store follows. Later, I devote my energy to podcasting, crafting episodes that I hope will inspire and empower my listeners.

May the seeds planted in these experiences continue to flourish, guiding me on my magical path of self-discovery, community, and transformative growth.

Yours under the stars, Stella
