Day 7: Do you have any ethics or moral codes that you follow? And to a lesser extent, your view on cursing/hexing?

I follow my own moral code.  It is my own, heavily influenced by my childhood Catholicism, my readings on Buddhism and other religions, and the secular tradition of utilitarianism.  Still, it is none of these things.  It is mine.  I want to make the world a better place for my being in it.  I try to treat people with compassion and respect.  I am vegetarian, and I purchase almost no animal products.  I am against all forms of coercion and oppression.  I am an educator and an activist.

As for hexing and cursing, I don't go there.  In my own personal practice, I don't cast spells for good or bad on other people without their permission.  As a feminist, I have issues with things happening to others without their consent.  I respect boundaries.  I do pray for people and do spells to influence the world around me, but I always try to focus my intent on myself and the part I play in the situation.  I don't think my way is the only way, but it is mine.
