Ohio is an Iroquoian word that the Seneca used for the Ohio River--ohiyo-- which means "it is beautiful." I live near Lake Erie, which was named for the Erie people who were also referred to as "Cat Nation." I invite you to come into relationship with the land you occupy and to research the history and current interests of the people indigenous to that land.
